Elective Courses
Courses such as Empirical Research Methods in Bioethics are
designed to introduce students to empirical research methods commonly used in
bioethics. The Reproductive Ethics course,
taught by Bonnie Steinbock, who serves on the Ethics Committee of the American
Society For Reproduction And Medicine (ASRM), allows students to explore controversial
areas in the ethics of artificial reproduction, ranging from surrogate motherhood,
to cloning, to stem cell research. The course on Clinical
Ethics functions as an elective for students who take Research
Ethics as their fourth core course, and, similarly, Research
Ethics serves as a an elective for students who take Clinical
Ethics as their fourth core course. We are also developing a course on
the Philosophical Foundations of Bioethics. |
